Camino de Santiago by Sailing

Enjoy a unique experience doing the Way of St. James by Sailing

To obtain the Compostela, the official diploma issued by the Cathedral of Santiago that certifies the completion of the pilgrimage, it is necessary to complete at least 100 nautical miles and a last stage on foot.

In the same way as in the Camino by land, it will be obligatory to present a credential with the official stamp of departure from a port of the North Marinas network, the rest of the stamps issued along the way and the stamp of Monte do Gozo from where the pilgrim must walk down to the cathedral to complete the entire pilgrimage.

Origin

It was precisely by sea that Theodore and Athanasius, disciples of the apostle, arrived in Galicia, who, according to tradition, carried his body to Padrón in a stone boat up the Ulla River.

In addition, many pilgrims from northern Europe opted for the boat to set sail to Santiago, so it is not surprising that the icon in the form of a sail has been incorporated into the pilgrim’s credential.
